I am a doctor and professor and have worked for many years in clinical practice, research and teaching. During my career, I became increasingly aware that medical excellence alone is not enough to sustainably strengthen people. Health is created where professional expertise, relationships and humanity come together.
My work is about perceiving people in their individual life situation and creating a space in which trust, self-awareness and inner orientation can grow. In doing so, I combine the findings of evidence-based medicine with a heart-oriented, relationship-based approach - not as a method, but as a basic understanding of medicine.
As co-founder of the Heart-Based Center, I bring this attitude to a multi-professional environment in which medical, psychological and human perspectives interact. The Center is a place for people who want to pause, gain clarity and develop new strength for their future path.
Prof. Dr. med. Jan Bonhoeffer is Professor of Pediatrics at the University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB), author and regular columnist for Psychology Today, where he writes on emotional well-being, relationships and humanity in healthcare.
